Education and Training
Dr. May-Davis began her education at Occidental College, where she was honored Phi Beta Kappa and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychobiology. She then moved on to earn her Doctorate of Medicine from Harvard Medical School.
After graduating Harvard Medical School in 1999, Dr. May-Davis pursued training in adult psychiatry and served as chief resident at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute. She became board certified in adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 2004. After her residency, she received further certification in psychodynamic therapy at the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. She continues to expand her training through a variety of conferences and workshops to keep her experience current and relevant.
Clinical Work:
Dr. May-Davis's work has included a mix of clinical care, teaching, administration, and community-focused service in both California and Texas. She previously worked several years doing integrative behavioral health at Integral Care. During this experience, Dr. May-Davis saw the need to incorporate a more holistic approach. After a period of rigorous study, she became a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. In 2016, she was board-certified in Integrative Medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialties. Dr. May-Davis also finished the basic level training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy in 2018.
Being a part of the mental health community here in Austin, Dr. May-Davis has volunteered in a number of areas. Currently, she is an affiliate faculty member at Dell Medical School for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. May-Davis is a past president of the Austin Psychiatric Society, having served as an officer for four years. She has also been honored in Texas Monthly Magazine as a "Super Doctor" in 2015 through 2023, as well as in Austin Monthly magazine best doctors in 2020 and 2022. She teaches at Presence Wellness, a multi-disciplinary clinic in Austin TX.
